We’re very excited about our latest project here at Poq. It’s a super-stylish photo sharing competition linked with Facebook, which we’ve developed on mobile for the luxury swimwear and menswear brand Orlebar Brown.
They’ve come up with a truly amazing competition giving one lucky winner £5,000 to spend at Orlebar Brown and a 5-night stay for two at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, courtesy of Tablet Hotels, plus a $1,000 shopping spree at Scoop NYC.
It’s simple to enter. You need one of the OB Man or OB Woman masks below, which you can download from the website, or pick up in store or with your online order. Put on the mask and take a photo of yourself living the summer lifestyle. The most creative images will win the prize!
You can upload images on the competition website, or directly from your phone.
And that’s where Poq came in! As many of the photos will be taken by people out and about, Orlebar Brown wanted to create a mobile version of the competition website that would be easy for people to use on their phones.
We created a completely integrated mobile website that lets users log-in with Facebook, enabling social sharing. Our site also lets users take photos from within the browser, making the upload process smooth and easy to use.
It’s something our lead developer Oyvind has been working on for a few months, and it’s a technology we’re aiming to incorporate into all our apps, as we think it could be a great marketing tool for fashion brands.
Imagine holding a competition where customers all have to style the same piece of clothing in different ways, or snap your products in quirky situations. It’s highly adaptable and customisable – it could also be used to create a user gallery where your biggest fans can share the ways they wear your products.
We came up with the idea after seeing how many pictures are uploaded on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram tagged with the name of a brand – we first noticed this for our clients Tatty Devine. It’s particularly evident on Instagram, as this is such an image-based network. Try searching for your own brand name on Instagram to see if consumers are currently sharing pictures, and you’ll see what we mean!
We’ll keep you updated on when we integrate this feature into our current mobile commerce platform. In the meantime, check out the Orlebar Brown competition here on your phone, or here on their desktop website.
